As a web developer with 12 years of experience I have worked on hundreds of web site projects. So many that I lost count. Probably my favorite is the type of project web content management for the design of a variety of reasons we explore below.
For customers looking for web sites
If you are looking to start your own web site and either want to do it yourself or you hire someone, I suggest you search the WordPress CMS (content management system) for the following reasons. WordPress has:
* A highly specialized team of developers working on the core engine that powers
* Thousands of plugins that perform almost any function you can think of online
* Great organization to create SEO sites
* It's totally easy to use
* There are thousands of templates to choose from, each of which can be customized
* You can download, run and install
I could go on and on about how much I love WordPress, but those are the key factors that make it the most popular on the web. If you are technically minded you may be able to install and run itself. If there is a lot of people around the world who can help you get your site up and running super fast.
For designers who want to design a CMS site
Using CMS sites are a lot of fun, after spending nearly eight years of HTML coding by hand and with several publishers. The reason I like working with workflow web site content management design is that it is much like detective work. I usually take a free template and install it (usually either a WordPress or Joomla site) and then start customizing.
Work with staff to another designer's funny because I usually have to search through the CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) for the code that makes it work. Sometimes you hit the wall, so it can be challenging, but that's what makes it fun for me.
My suggestion for any designer to start working with a content management system is to try, try, try. Play, have fun and when you hit a wall with style sheets, the best thing to do is go to Google and you will have an answer in minutes. Good luck!
